NARO's mission is to energize, advocate for, and educate mineral and royalty owners, empowering them to take charge of their future!

In the U.S., 12.5 million private oil and gas rights owners are crucial to the industry. By granting drilling leases, they act as "landlords," facilitating exploration and becoming stakeholders in profitable ventures.

Welcome to National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO)

Royalty owners and land leasers have specific rights and responsibilities laid out in their lease agreements, as well as in laws and court cases.

But often, inexperienced owners might not fully grasp these rights, or industry partners might overlook them. That's where NARO comes in—we're here to help you understand and stand up for your rights.

As mineral interest owners entitled to royalties, we assert our rights based on fairness and lease agreements. Good faith is key in lease talks and payment processes. We deserve to be paid as per our contracts and the law. We also have the right to access information from the operator to ensure we’re getting the right payments. If negotiations to fix any lease violations don’t work out, we can seek solutions. Additionally, we should have a say in oil and gas policies or regulations that impact us.

The NARO "bill of rights" for mineral interest owners emphasizes fairness in royalty agreements.

As royalty owners we must uphold professionalism during negotiations and ensure we receive compensation as per our contracts and laws. We also have the right to access information from the operator to confirm our earnings.

If lease negotiations fail, we can seek alternative solutions and should have a say in relevant oil and gas regulations.
